3.6. Outreach

In 2001 a full-time outreach position was filled which has significantly improved both the quantity and quality of JAC outreach activities. The JAC has been well represented at astronomy-related open days such as Astro Day (a US-wide event) and county fair, talks have been given in local schools, and the JAC Science Outreach Specialist (Douglas Pierce-Price) has been very active in the various outreach-related committees which serve the Mauna Kea Observatories. A number of professional press releases were also produced over the two years, highlighting the science being produced by MICHELLE and UIST.
