JLS Source naming schemes
IAU approved source naming acronyms for JLS sources
| The surveys which make up the JLS will discover a number of new submillimetre sources. In anticipation of this and the need to publish catalogues describing their properties, acronyms have been registered with the International Astronomical Union (IAU) for our use.
Of the seven surveys, four of them are likely to require these acronyms (the others have source lists of known targets). These acronyms are listed below.
|
| Acronym |
Survey |
| JCMTLSC |
for source catalogues published by the Cosmology Legacy Survey |
| JCMTLSP |
for source catalogues published by the JCMT Plane Survey |
| JCMTLSG |
for source catalogues published by the JCMT Gould Belt Survey |
| JCMTLSY |
for source catalogues published by the SCUBA-2 All-Sky Survey |
| JCMT |
A generic code for publishing catalogues generated from observations awarded by ITAC. |
|
|
| These acronyms were approved by the IAU in July 2007 and presented to the JCMT Board in November 2007.
To use the acronyms, sources should be named according to their sky coordinates in J2000 and presented in the following format:
JCMTLSC Jhhmmss.s+ddmmss
|
|
There are also two acronyms JCMTSE and JCMTSF which catalogues all archived SCUBA sources. This catalogue is presented in a paper by Di Francesco et al. (2008). |
