A HETERODYNE INTEGRATION
TIME CALCULATOR (HITEC)
When the Integration Time Calculator (ITC) for scuba observations was
released, the response was immediate and enthusiastic. Calculating required
integration times for any observation technique under whatever sky conditions
was simple, repeatable, and accurate. A similar facility for observing
with heterodyne instruments was much more difficult to develop, because
of the plethora of instruments/configurations/sky conditions, coupled with
non-uniform instrument sensitivies within each bandwidth and the presence
of atmospheric "features".
Now a Heterodyne Integration TimE Calculator (HITEC) is in place! Designed
by Robin Phillips, HITEC is a stand alone application (i.e. not yet web
based) and needs to be downloaded from here.
(It's also available from the JCMT home page under http://www.jach.hawaii.edu/JACpublic/JCMT/Apply_time/ITC/heterodyne_itc.html)
It's a perl script, and can be run on any platform which has perl/TK installed.
Complete instalation instructions are available from the web page.
